TIARAS & TEE TIMES !!

WOW !  I was fortunate to share the "Royal Wedding" with my good friend Bonnie-we were at the beach condo for the weekend while our "men" played in the Surf Club's Member Guest.  We were up at five to savor every moment with tiaras and mimosas.  The dress-the pomp-the circumstance-the kiss-I loved every moment......almost makes one want to be British ! They do know how to celebrate a wedding!

On to the men-they won their flight and in the one hole shootout (#18 for those who know the course) Duncan was the only player out of ten to hit the green!  Very exciting-ended in a three way tie and on second playoff of same hole had to beat out a shot that was six inches from the hole on the approach-not meant to be-but did come in second in the field of sixty teams.  Congratulations to Will & Catherine and also Duncan &  Lindsay - our golf royalty!

THE TIMES THEY ARE A'CHANGING....

How can it be ?  "All My Children"  off the air?  I watched the first episode in college and have been a fan ever since...still watching it once a week - all it takes to keep up.  Speaking of change we have moved...
NEW ADDRESS:
ONE PARK VISTA #440, WINSTON-SALEM, NC 27101
Moved on the 13th and final picture hung on the 19th..who could believe that Duncan is as OCD as I ?  Feverishly unpacking for three straight days then the small details to follow.  The move created quite a set of circumstances...imagine a condo full of boxes with no idea where to find a knife or fork or dish? Hor douvres served on the base of a patio pot.  Cut the frozen pizza with a pair of scissors then served on the pizza box-have not found dishes yet.  Marie Callendar became our close friend while trying to find pots and pans.  We are home !  Formal dinner at our dining table on Sunday evening then this week dinner each night on porch overlooking the greenway...watching the dog walkers as well as the homeless man who charges his cell phone on city property - go figure ?  Also a great day at Cobblestone Farmer's Market (a short walk) and met such nice people...I highly recommend the experience for great locally grown foods.  So far so good...the times they are a'changing !!

An aside:  additional pictures of a Black Tie dance with friends and watching our first parade from our condo-the Budweiser Clydesdales.
Little known facts:   Each horse weighs 2,000 pounds, eats 60 pounds of hay & 15 pounds of grain daily and drinks 30 gallons of water a day.

FROM THE COUNTRY....TO THE BIG APPLE !!

April has started with a "BANG" -You are never too old....we joined the "youngsters" for a concert by the Zac Brown Band-yes, I am a member of the "Zamily"...had a grand evening with Prudy & Tom Yates at the "Joel"-the local coliseum.  We had a tailgate with "chicken fried" and a little alcohol then a great evening of music.  Love that band...hope everyone will take a moment to tune into a local country station-on my truck's speed dial- (my favorite 93.1 The Wolf) - you will be ZAMMED !

Then on to the Big Apple with Gail & Jim Bland for a great weekend !  We started out in Raleigh at "49th Street Oyster Bar" - a historic NC establishment - and continued to eat our way through the rest of the weekend from "Carnegie's Deli" for Saturday lunch, "Latanza" for Saturday dinner, "Saju Bistro" for Sunday brunch and then "Top of the Standard" with views from New Jersey to Manhattan followed by "The Standard Grill" for Sunday dinner ( we upped the average age-very young & hip-just like the four of us !!)  I list the specifics in case you travel north-I recommend them all.

Loved the matinees "Jersey Boys" and "Million Dollar Quartet" plus a great Sunday morning at the Metropolitan Museum of Art...walked six plus miles on Saturday and then a little less than three on Sunday....great way to enjoy the city!  Saturday afternoon was the "Scottish Parade"- we were unfortunately at the theater - but were lucky enough to enjoy a sidewalk serenade Saturday night...kilts, bagpipers & all in Times Square.  The Metropolitan Museum of Art was a great way to spend our Sunday morning-wandered, toured, loved it !

Returned home Monday morning - car service arrived in a stretch limo for trip to airport - love the unexpected !

" BIRDS OF A FEATHER...."

"....Better to have a long-neck perspective, alive to every possibility.
Sure of blue skies overhead, where the sun is always shining and visible to the eye."
(Collected poems of  Philip Martz)

The ninth annual MAC-MAR Invitational was successful but not without challenges !  To review- my good friend Betty and I host girlfriends each year at the beach for fellowship, golf and a general good time.  It was all that and more....2011 was the first time the weather did not cooperate.  Blustery winds, cold and rain are not ideal conditions for a spring getaway at the beach but some sunshine and positive attitudes by all made for another great event.  The picture gallery says it all...(keep in mind that our theme is a flamingo - a symbol of friendship - so there is always a lot of PINK !! )  Enjoy !
